⬤ Dear Stereohype supporters, contributors, collaborators, past and present design competition participants, stockists, customers, jury members, graphic art and button badge lovers
Well, hello there!
It has been a while. The last Stereohype newsletter went out in 2022, and the intervening years were, let’s say, rather eventful. Moves, boxes, crossed borders, practical reshuffling and a temporary period of online quietness. There were plenty of questions, a fair amount of admin, and rather more cardboard boxes than anyone should reasonably have to deal with.
Things have gradually settled, and Stereohype is very much alive and kicking again.
For anyone who may be new to Stereohype, it is the graphic art label, online boutique and international creative community founded in London in 2004 and directed by yours truly, Tomi Vollauschek. It is the sister-company of FL@33, the multi-disciplinary design studio I co-founded and lead as Creative Director.
More importantly, there are new badge adventures ahead.
All the best,
Tomi 8) ⬤⬤⬤

CALL FOR ENTRIES #STBBDC2026
⬤ Stereohype runs two independent badge-design initiatives.
The call for entries for the 19th international Stereohype Button Badge Design Competition is now open.
It is Stereohype’s public open call, running alongside the B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Button Badge Series, now in its 23rd edition and curated by yours truly.
If you are 18+ and into design, illustration, typography, photography or visual experimentation, submit a maximum of four original badge artworks in total. Enter them as individual designs, a set of four, or a combination of both. No entry fee, of course.
Create something lovely, humorous, witty, strange, beautiful or otherwise irresistible for those cute little mobile canvases.
Deadline: 9 September 2026, 11.59pm / 23:59, in your own time zone.
The all-important Artwork Guide PDF is waiting on the competition page, together with Photoshop templates, prizes, technical specifications and submission details.
Please share / Happy badge designing!

⬤ One of my favourite things about Stereohype is how the community keeps growing in circles. Former competition winners, B.I.O. contributors, badge-loving writers, editors, illustrators, artists and graphic designers come together to help choose the next generation of Stereohype winners.
The first confirmed 2026 judges are: Antonia Henschel, Camille Whitcher, Rebecca Fulleylove / Creative Review, DTM_INC, Geneviève Gauckler, Christine Moosmann / Grafikmagazin, Holly T Burrows, Jono Sandilands, Julien Rivoire, Linzie Hunter, Paul McNeill, Tatiana Furlan and yours truly, Tomi Vollauschek / FL@33.
More names to follow soon.

B.I.O. 23: QUIETLY UNDERWAY #STBIO23
⬤ Personal invitations for the 23rd B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Button Badge Series are now out. The early response has been wonderfully positive, and I am currently waiting for designs to arrive from all corners of the world.
The one and only Steven R. Gilmore is already on board, with badges and Button Badge Motif Prints. I will contribute to the series, too, as always.
Selected badge motifs may also join #STBBMP, Stereohype’s Button Badge Motif Print Series. The original one-inch artwork is enlarged, resolution allowing, to a circular seven-inch (178mm) motif with a subtle 45rpm single feel, on an 8 × 10in (203 × 254mm) Fine Art Giclée Print. Each print is produced with super-vibrant archival 12-ink technology on beautifully textured 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching
paper and finished with an embossed Stereohype quality seal.
