Join CODA’s Partnership Program

CODA’s Partnership Program enables companies of all sizes in the decommissioning value chain to make modest financial contributions and become partners with CODA. CODA's team is expanding!

November has welcomed new members to the CODA team:

With the completion of phase one, Samantha Jarvis handed over the reins to Cassy Schmidt to lead the NDRI as the Program Director for phase two. We would like to thank Sam for her leadership and contribution to the NDRI and the important research that has been produced from phase one, recognising the significant body of work that Sam executed to get the NDRI to this point.

'Thank you to all the industry partners and researchers that I have had the opportunity to work with over the last year and I am pleased to be handing over the reins to Cassy who will do a great job leading the next chapter for NDRI' - Samantha Jarvis

NDRI (National Decommissioning Research Initiative) update

NDRI continues to do important research to better understand the impacts of decommissioning oil and gas structures on the Australian marine environment and we are excited to provide an update on the completion of phase one and planning for phase two.

Phase one complete

With phase one of the NDRI now wrapped up, we have a wealth of research outcomes available for review on our website.

NDRI Symposium 2022

In July the NDRI reached a major milestone with the 2022 symposium wrapping up the Phase one research outcomes. Each study lead presented their findings (in person) and the brief recordings are now available:

  • Assessing the habitat value of oil and gas infrastructure for fish and other marine organisms

  • Understanding the spread risk of invasive marine species (IMS) in the context of decommissioning

  • Developing a Tool for Predicting the Lifespan and Corrosion Behaviour of Decommissioned Oil and Gas Metallic Infrastructure in the Ocean

  • Risk-based Marine Impact Assessment of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORMs) and Mercury from Decommissioning Oil and Gas Infrastructure

Phase two underway

Phase two has now begun and we're excited to keep you updated throughout its progress.

Research projects in this phase will focus on contaminants of concern and engagement has commenced with regulators, government and fisheries - our key stakeholders - to align expectations and ensure the successful outcome of this phase.
