Saturday Edition
Good morning, members! Or ‘Chào buổi sáng’ (Jow Buoy Sang), as they would say in Vietnam. Any big plans for today? Whether you plan to relax with family and friends or take some well-deserved me-time, we hope this weekend gets you feeling fresh and rejuvenated. After all, you deserve it, eh?
We have quite a few things for you today, starting with the answer to yesterday’s riddle! Let’s remind ourselves of it, shall we?
My love, when I gaze on your beautiful face careering along, yet always in place, the thought has often come into my mind if I ever shall see thy glorious behind.
Did you get it? The answer is the moon! Because when we look at the moon, we can only ever see one side of it - the other side is always hidden from view, thus the expression ‘dark side of the moon.’ This riddle was a little more poetic than our normal fare and had us stumped, but we’re glad a few of you got it correct. If you did, head further down in the newsletter, and you’ll spot a shoutout just for you!
Now onto our next segment for the day, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say’. Today, we are taking a look at the term ‘doggo’. Doggo is an internet slang term for a dog, usually a particularly cute or funny one. It can be used to describe any dog, regardless of breed or size, as in ‘Aww, look at the little doggo!’ or ‘That’s one big doggo!’ So, next time you see your grandkid or your neighbour’s dog, use this term and see how they react. 😉
Oh, and before we get into the news, don’t forget to check out today’s ALDI Special Buys. There are some great deals on there so make sure you take a look.

Today’s ‘Yesterday's Australia’ segment is thanks to member @lesni, who shared a lovely memory of eating Mr Whippy. ‘Pala-ping-pong! Pala-ping-pong! My four-year-old brother would mimic the thrilling drift of carnival music heading our way in the suburbs. Mr Whippy had come calling. All the children in the street streamed out of their houses, coinage in sweaty little hands. The man in the pink and cream van did not need to work hard or persuasively for business here, and he knew it. We jostled in unruly lines to hand over our pocket money
for an ice cream that was insanely creamy-we had only ever had Amscol and Peter's hard bricks to compare with. And sometimes, if you'd saved up particularly well, you could afford the banana split. But that was showing off, and you had to deal with the hard stares of envy from the neighbourhood kids. Yes, and I have been looking for a Mr Whippy experience for the rest of my life.’
What a great memory we can look back on! I’m sure many of us can relate to waiting in line for Mr Whippy as kids. The anticipation of finally getting that delicious ice cream was worth the wait! It was definitely a special treat for those lucky enough to get one! Do you remember your first Mr Whippy experience?

How stunning is this photo posted by member @Algieboy in our photography forum? It shows Mount Sefton, the dazzling Aoraki and Mount Tasman above Lake Pukaki in New Zealand. Look at the sharp white of the peaks and the dark green of the trees- just mesmerizing. It's hard to find anywhere else in the world that is so unspoiled and beautiful. Thanks for sharing this photo with us, @Algieboy.
