New Spiritual Care Director | Performance Excellence | Safety Fair | National Anthem | COVID-19 ![]() Week of July 11, 2022New Spiritual Care DirectorPlease join in welcoming Robert Vitela as the new Spiritual Care and Values Integration Director at HMSL. Robert comes to us from Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital where he has served for 2-and-a-half years. Robert served Clear Lake faithfully and was an anchor during the COVID-19 pandemic, spending much of his time in units with patients as well as staff. ![]() Among many initiatives, Robert was instrumental in leading the development of a 24-hour chaplain support line to offer emotional and spiritual support to patients and staff which proved to be a crucial resource during the pandemic. This opportunity at HMSL will allow him to grow in his role as a director by supporting and overseeing a larger Spiritual Care team. Robert will begin rounding at HMSL periodically but has graciously agreed to continue serving HMCL through current leadership transitions, which includes hiring his replacement. The theme is "Aloha Safety” and puts a fun spin on very important information that will keep you and your colleagues safe during dangerous incidents. Topics include hazmat spills, active attackers and shooters, hurricane preparedness and more. The Center For Performing Arts Medicine has your chance! Houston Methodist employees are invited to join the Houston Methodist Employee Choir in singing "The Star Spangled Banner" at two upcoming baseball games.
