San Benito County Campus Update
Over the past year the Measure X bond program team has been working diligently to keep this project moving forward:
- Felice Consulting Services is working with local agencies for sewer, water, power, gas and data to be delivered to the site.
San Benito County Campus stakeholders, trustees, and community members have been involved in the development of the San Benito County Campus facilities, campus aesthetics, and future development of the site.

Gavilan College Gilroy Campus Update
Completed Projects
The Fire Alarm Upgrade was completed in November 2021, as part of the Site Improvements, Security and Infrastructure project.
The Pool ADA Upgrades were completed in June 2021 as part of the Site Improvements, Security and Infrastructure project.
Projects in Construction
The Pedestrian Bridge project is underway, also as part of the Site Improvements, Security and Infrastructure main project. The existing bridge is a wood structure and has become structurally unstable due to dry rot. The new bridge will be constructed of steel and concrete, have a longer life span, and will meet current ADA regulations.
- December 2021: Shop drawings and Steel Mill order
- January 2022: Offsite fabrication of new bridge
- February 2022: Demolition of existing bridge
- March 2022: Construction of new bridge
- June 2022: Anticipated project completion
The Boiler and Hot Water Piping Replacement project is currently in progress and replaces the failing infrastructure on the Gavilan Gilroy Campus. The newly installed boilers will also reduce emissions and improve air quality.

- November 2021: Temporary boilers installed
- December 2021: Underground piping installed
- January 2022: New boilers installed
- February 2022: Project completion
Upcoming Projects in Design
STEM Center
Modernization of existing facilities and new construction of a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Center. This project will include general lecture classrooms, science and computer labs, study areas, and faculty and support staff offices.
Schedule:

- January 2022: Criteria documents to be completed
- May 2022: Selection of the Design-Build-Entity (DBE) begins
- January 2023: Design and construction documents to be completed
- January 2024: Division of State Architect (DSA) review begins
- November 2024: Start of construction
- January 2028: Building occupancy
Library and Student Resource Center (LSRC)
Construction of a new, state of the art Library and Student Resource Center. The new Library will replace the aging Library and incorporate Student Services functions into one location.

- April 2022: Selection of the Design-Build-Entity (DBE) begins
- November 2022: Design and construction documents to be completed

Theater Modernization
The Theater Modernization project is home to the theater program, and will include upgrades to the theater, classrooms, scene shop, rehearsal rooms, offices and storage for props and equipment.
Schedule:
- August 2021: Started programming
- January 2022: Building assessments begin
- May 2022: Hazmat investigation begins
- September 2022: Design and construction documents complete
- March 2024: Division of State Architect (DSA) review starts
- March 2025: Construction begins
- November 2026: Building occupancy
Wayfinding and Signage
This project involves creating bilingual signage throughout the campus, to help improve wayfinding for students, faculty, and campus visitors. This project also includes the construction of a monument sign at the entrance to the campus.
Expected completion: November 2022
Covered Walkways Replacement Project
This project involves the replacement of existing walkway canopies/covers that are structurally failing due to age and dry rot.
Expected completion: September 2023
