Working Toward Mental Wellness - A Toolkit for Employers

Public understanding of mental health issues has increased in both scope and sophistication over the past decade, including a deeper appreciation for the importance of mental wellness in the workplace.
"This sea of change has been largely positive, as employees who need treatment can now better access the help they need with less fear of stigma or penalties, thanks to employers recognizing the role they play in supporting the mental health of their staff."

Canada’s new $10 bill and a reminder about security features

As you know, a new bank note featuring Viola Desmond was issued in mid-November. It’s now gradually filtering into circulation and customers’ wallets.  This new note is being rolled out gradually and will circulate alongside the other $10 polymer notes, until they need to be replaced.

As the new regularly circulating $10 bank note, the vertical $10 will be produced by the Bank of Canada for years to come.  Cash-handling machine owners should contact their equipment supplier with any questions about machine compatibility. The Bank of Canada issues new bank notes to stay ahead of counterfeiting threats and to keep pace with advances in technology. But remember, bank notes are only secure if you check them.

The new $10 note features enhanced security features that are easy to check and difficult to counterfeit. Businesses can learn about these security features on the Bank’s website, by watching this video, or CLICK HERE to download training materials for staff.

To help Ontarians understand their employment rights and duties, the ministry produces an employment standards poster that must be shared with employees. As a result of recent changes in the Making Ontario Open for Business Act, 2018, the poster has been updated.
