Week of August 12, 2024

Michael Garcia
Chief Executive Officer
Houston Methodist Sugar Land

It’s the Monday after the Closing Ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and I have to admit I’m sad it’s over. We witnessed so many amazing performances of athleticism and teamwork. I personally enjoyed track and field (the 4x400 relays in the rain), sport climbing (4.75 seconds to climb a wall) and artistic swimming (if you can moonwalk in water, email me). All of these sports showcased dedication, precision and a drive for excellence – the same commitment we have to excellent patient care.

As the Summer Olympics end, many of us are also experiencing another important milestone: the start of the school year. With some students already back in class and others beginning this week, I know it's a busy time for many HMSL families. It is also a reminder that our learning never ends.

I want to encourage each of you to register now for Pathway to Unparalleled. This year’s interactive program will begin next week, on Thursday, August 22, and is designed around unparalleled quality. One of the reasons we are one of the top hospitals in Texas is because of the quality of service we provide to our patients. I hope you make it a priority to register in LMS for a 90-minute session before sessions end in October. Your participation is important as we renew our commitment to deliver the best care possible to our community.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Let’s make this season one of growth and continued excellence.
