Sharon Gail Receives Key to the Village

At its May 27, 2025, meeting, the Village Board of Trustees proudly honored longtime resident and District 28 staff member Sharon Gail for her exceptional service to the Northbrook community. In recognition of her decades of dedication and impact, Sharon was awarded the Key to the Village of Northbrook—a rare and meaningful tribute for someone who has truly shaped the heart of our community.

A Northbrook resident for more than 50 years, Sharon spent 41 of those years serving District 28, including 38 as the steady, friendly face in the main office at Northbrook Junior High School. She is celebrated for her remarkable efficiency, deep institutional knowledge, and the warmth she shared with every student, colleague, and visitor.

From buzzing in guests and managing attendance to answering phones and paging students—often all at once—Sharon’s legendary multitasking and her 99.6% accuracy in answering questions about the Village made her a trusted cornerstone of the school and the broader community.

Through her service, Sharon has left a lasting mark on thousands of lives. We thank her for helping to nurture and shape generations of Northbrook residents one student and family at a time.

The Sustainability Commission is excited to celebrate World Environment Day with the Northbrook Climate Action Day resource fair behind Village Hall (1225 Cedar Ln)! Explore the Village Hall demonstration garden and connect with experts sharing valuable information on sustainability. Meet community partners for practical tips to make your home, landscape and transportation more sustainable and energy-efficient, adopt sustainable lifestyle practices, and reduce you environmental impact.

The first will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4-7pm in the Village Hall lobby. The second will be on Wednesday, June 11, 12-3pm in the Northbrook Library lobby.

Northbrook Farmers Market Market Opening Day Bash
Wednesday, June 18 7am-1pm
Northbrook Farmers Market Opening Day Bash, Wednesday, June 18, features fun for all in the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, Cherry Lane and Meadow Road. Free attractions include live music, face painting, slices of cold watermelon, games for kids, plenty of cool swag and more. The best weekday farmers market on the North Shore is open 7am to 1pm Wednesdays through October 8, in downtown Northbrook. 

Electronics Recycling 
First Tuesday & Saturday of the month
Fleet Maintenance Garage, 1227 Cedar Lane
Bring your old and unused electronics to be recycled. Residents are responsible for removing items from their vehicles. Do not leave items at the Village’s facility outside of the recycling events. 1st Tuesday of the month, 7am-3pm & 1st Saturday of the month, 9am-noon.

Paint Northbrook Plein Air 2025 
Artist Registration Now Open!
Capture the beauty of Northbrook during this week-long outdoor painting event, August 8–16. The experience wraps up with an art show and sale at Party on the Green on August 16 at Village Green Park.
