![]() June 2025 ![]() CEO UpdateWelcome to the latest edition of Connections. Firstly, I'm pleased to report that as we round out the 2024-25 financial year, we are on track to once again achieve all our major targets. Work is now underway to prepare our annual report and obtain sign-off from the Regulator (Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water - DCCEEW). We look forward to sharing the results and successes of the year in the coming months. It has also been pleasing to have so many members commit to renewing with ANZRP as we continue to work together to achieve best practice e-stewardship. As part of efforts to improve on our service offering, we have had a renewed focus on refining our value proposition. We are confident the proposition articulates how the work we do helps build and protect our members’ brand value through refining e-stewardship practices. We anticipate that in FY26 we will have capacity to take on and service some new members, so we welcome introductions and leads from you to engage with potential new members. I was also pleased to have been recently invited by the Productivity Commission to address their expert panel on opportunities in the domestic circular economy inquiry. This provided us with a platform to reiterate the issues and opportunities that we had raised in our earlier written submission, including those that strengthen the functioning of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme in the interests of our members. As I look ahead, it is exciting to see DCCEEW is embarking on the next stages of implementing its Environmentally Sustainable Procurement Policy (ESP Policy) for information and communications technology equipment. We have been a strong advocate for this initiative and hope that many of you can join the webinar on June 18th (the details of which were circulated in our Member Alert on 5th June 2025). Lastly, I am excited to share that ANZRP has recently been re-certified as a Great Place to Work. This recognition is a testament to our team's dedication and the positive workplace environment we strive to maintain. Even through a year of significant organisational change, we saw an average uplift of 10 points across all survey focus areas. Over recent months we have enjoyed several opportunities to continue building on these foundations through our team’s participation in National Volunteering Week and supporting the ‘Wear it Yellow’ initiative as part of National Reconciliation Week 2025. Yours sincerely, Carla Vasconi ![]() ![]() ANZRP Quarter 3 2024-2025 Financial Year Update During Quarter 3 2024-2025 ANZRP:
ANZRP’s Material Recovery Rate continues to improve from 84%, with an anticipated rate of 89% expected for 2024-2025 driven by recycling more plastic thereby diverting it from landfill. ![]() Release of ANZRP’s value proposition campaign During May ANZRP conducted an extensive campaign focusing on the value we offer as a co-regulatory partner. The campaign specifically sought to showcase the unique benefits that ANZRP delivers to its members and how our value proposition serves to build and protect the brands of our members through sustainable e-stewardship. Additionally, the campaign was also leveraged to attract potential new members by highlighting the advantages of joining ANZRP. The campaign was run on social media and attracted strong engagement. Notable outcomes from the campaign included a 24.2% increase in traffic to the ANZRP website during this period. Sessions on the site rose by 15.1%. Themes attracting strong engagement included those posts on sustainability reporting content and brand protection and member trust. ![]() Save the Date - July Member Forum Please join us on Wednesday 30th of July for our next Member Forum: TechCollect Serving the Public Good: Advancing Member Brands, ESG Impact, and Engagement During this forum, we will explore how ANZRP engages with the broader public through TechCollect, our national e-waste collection program, and provides industry leading reasonable access working with our partners. We will highlight members' opportunities to build their brands and market presence via collaborative e-waste collection events supported by TechCollect. Details: 12.30pm – 2.00pm, online Look out for your invitation in the coming weeks! ![]() Elevating our Member Experience ANZRP has a clear vision which is to be the best team recognised for delivering market leading and innovative e-product circularity solutions for the benefit of our members. We recognise that to be able to do this, we need to have a clear customer experience strategy and program with regular feedback from members and continuous improvement actions on our behalf. This year, as we did last year, we engaged independent customer experience consultancy, Saguity, to assist us with measuring and benchmarking our customer service. Having taken an extensive pulse check of our member experience, Saguity assisted us to pinpoint the key drivers that not only make a company number one but also build the strongest teams. Overall, we were very pleased to improve our net promoter score (NPS) to 63%, up by 4% on last year and well above median industry standards. NPS is a metric that measures experience and loyalty with a company. This month, Darrell Hardidge from Saguity was a guest speaker at our annual Customer Experience workshop with the ANZRP staff where we formed teams to brainstorm and develop plans for improving our efforts both internally and the member and stakeholder experience. Insights gained from the workshop and the customer experience surveys are invaluable as we continue to strive for service excellence. We would like to thank all of you who gave your time to participate in the survey. We are dedicated to implementing these findings and continuously refining our approach to meet and exceed the expectations of our members. ![]() TechCollect NZ Major Milestone On the 25th of March TechCollect NZ submitted its application to run an accredited product stewardship scheme for electrical and electronic products (e-products) under the NZ Waste Minimisation Act, priority products category. A decision is expected by July this year. The proposed NZ mandatory product stewardship scheme for e-products is different than the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS) under which ANZRP operates in Australia in a number of significant ways. Designed through a co-design process involving significant government, community and business stakeholders and focused on the needs of a circular economy the scheme:
In preparation for the transition to the new scheme and structure TechCollect NZ has strengthened its board by appointing a new independent chair, Ming-chun Woo and a new independent Board Director, Dr Daniel Tulloch. Both new directors bring a wealth of governance experience and deep understanding of the New Zealand government working methods and priorities ![]() ![]() European Union updates codes for battery-related waste The EU has updated battery-related waste codes to now classify black mass from batteries as hazardous waste, in accordance with the Basel Convention and the Waste Shipments Regulation. This will lead to better control of shipments of black mass and will ensure that black mass remains in the European economy. This supports the Battery Regulation’s objective of shifting to a circular economy, increasing security of supply. ![]() New sustainability reporting guidelines The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) has released its regulatory guide on sustainability reporting (RG 280). The guidance covers aspects such as who must prepare a sustainability report and when, what content is required in the sustainability report, disclosing sustainability-related financial information outside the sustainability report, and ASIC’s administration of the sustainability reporting requirements, including scope 3 emissions. For ANZRP Members, please contact us to discuss how we can help you with scope 3 emissions reporting from your e-waste supply chain. ![]() Senator Murray Watt appointed as Federal Environment Minister Senator Murray Watt has been announced as Minister for Environment and Water, taking over from Minister Tanya Plibersek. In fact, PonyUp for Good recently reached a notable milestone, being the delivery of 1,000,000 meals since its inception, through SecondBite, Australia’s largest free food rescue organisation. ![]() ANZRP staff 'Wear it Yellow' for National Reconciliation Week This year, as part of National Reconciliation Week, the team at ANZRP got behind our charity partner Children's Ground, and the ‘Wear It Yellow' initiative. Children’s Ground is a First Nations organisation, whose vision is for the next generation to have amazing opportunities to celebrate their social, cultural, educational, health and economic well-being. The occasion allowed for staff to explore and connect over morning tea, raising money and sharing baked goods, stories, and enjoying the opportunity to learn more about the different First Nations cultures. ![]() National Volunteer Week - Connecting Communities National Volunteer Week is staged in May each year in order to draw attention to the important role that volunteers play in the community and to invite those not currently volunteering, to give it a go. The ANZRP team participated in National Volunteering Week, but there was an added bonus in that the staff got to work side by side with the team at Endeavour Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports people with disability to live their best life, and whom ANZRP engages to recycle e-waste as part of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme. ANZRP spent the day at Endeavour’s Keon Park facility in Melbourne where staff were involved in tasks such as assembling gift and multi-packs and packaging and labelling foods. It also enabled ANZRP to get to know more about the valuable work Endeavour Foundation does (other than recycling e-waste). Through the combined efforts of the organisations, Endeavour Foundation’s Site Manager, Graham, highlighted that ANZRP's involvement led to a 10% improvement across two production lines, thanks to the collaboration from all involved. An Endeavour Foundation staff member later commented that “I personally loved ANZRP’s enthusiasm and everyone in the team was very accommodating and pleasant." Sheeba Narain, ANZRP’s Brand & Digital Marketing Lead was similarly appreciative saying “It is easy to take things for granted but today was a powerful reminder of how fortunate we are and how important it is to give back to our communities. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with such a dedicated group of people and contribute in a meaningful way”. Thanks Endeavour Foundation for the opportunity to collaborate in this way. |
