Project Update
September 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you informed about the Scone CBD Revitalisation Project, we would like to share an update on the works happening in and around St Aubins Square and Kelly Street.

August Progress Summary

A major milestone was reached in late August with southbound traffic returning to Kelly Street. This marks a significant milestone in the revitalisation journey and brings us one step closer to a CBD that is vibrant and accessible for everyone.

Block 1 (Kingdon to Liverpool Streets) – East

  • Completion of footpath construction
  • Completion of landscaping and Equine Walk of Fame plaques
  • Intermediate asphalt layer
  • Installation of line marking and signage
  • Opening of road to traffic

All other Blocks in Stage 1 (Kingdon to St Aubins Streets) and St Aubins Town Square

  • Finishing and defect works

Block 3 Corner (St Aubins to Susan Streets) - West

  • Completion of storm water
  • Footpath construction
  • Pram ramp construction

Works Planned for September

Commencing Monday 9 September 2024 the Contractor will implement a detour for the construction of Stage 2 (Block 3 Kelly St, between St Aubins and Susan Streets).

This detour will facilitate a partial road closure for construction of the raised pedestrian crossing and stormwater upgrades. Businesses in Block 3 remain accessible.

On Monday, 16 September 2024, the Contractor will commence placing the final road layer known as the wearing course on Kelly Street, from Kingdon Street to St Aubins Street. These works are expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting, and will involve disruptions to traffic.

The Contractor will implement a partial road closure and traffic detours to allow for the placement of the wearing course. It is intended that only one side of the block will be closed at any one time, with the other side to remain open to traffic and parking. Following the completion of the wearing course, final line marking will take place roughly 10 days later.

Blocks 1, 2 and St Aubins Town Square

  • Finishing and defect works
  • Wearing course and final line marking

Block 3 (St Aubins to Susan Streets)

  • Site establishment

  • Demolition of existing median

  • Median sub-base and base infill

  • Implement traffic detour from 9 September 2024

  • Demolition of concrete pavement

  • Commence stormwater drainage

  • Commence construction of wombat crossing

  • Transport for NSW pavement rectification works

We will continue to provide updates on the project's progress. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
