As we prepare to turn the page on the new year, I want to take a moment and reflect on the year we’ve shared together. For me, 2024 was a year of challenges, growth and pride. I’m really proud of all that we’ve accomplished together.
Stepping into my role as CEO this year has been an incredible experience. I’ve been inspired by each of you here at HMSL – your dedication and unwavering focus on delivering the best possible care to our patients is admirable. This year we’ve seen more patients than ever before, we’ve restructured to become more efficient - all while supporting each other. We were once again recognized by Vizient, once again named one of the best hospitals in Houston and Texas by U.S. News and World Report and we increased our Employee Opinion Survey engagement results (a number that truly matters to me because they come directly from you). There was a lot to celebrate!
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited about the opportunities we have to grow even stronger as a team and as a hospital. I know we will achieve even greater things. I know I’m a month shy, but thank you all for making this a remarkable first year for me. I truly look forward to next year.

Don’t Forget to Use Your DoorDash Credit
There’s still time to use your $100 Celebrating You DoorDash Credit, but the clock is ticking. The credit will expire January 15. It’s easy to use the credit and you don’t have to use the credit for a restaurant. There are stores on DoorDash such as Walgreens, Target, Aldi, PetSmart and 7-11. Click here to learn more.
Growing & Developing in 2025
How do you want to grow and develop in 2025? The HMSL Clinical Education Department and the System Critical Courses Sub-Committee would like all employees and leaders to participate in a survey. The results of this survey will communicate what you are interested in learning. The survey will close Tuesday, December 31. Click here to take the survey.
I CARE Award Nominations Deadline Approaching
The annual deadline for nominating someone for an I CARE Award is Friday, January 31. The I CARE Awards recognize employees who consistently exemplify our values and regularly do more than is expected of them in their jobs. To nominate someone:
- Log in to MARS or The HUB.
- Click on the BRAVO tile.
- Enter the name of the co-worker you want to nominate and click Next.
- Select the I CARE Award recognition program.
You will be guided through a series of questions to help determine if the employee's actions are appropriate for our I CARE Award. Please complete the nomination with as much specific information as possible.
