NEWS UPDATE

18 September 2026

Publishers note

As one boat show closes, another is starting elsewhere. While most are geographically separated, others are run with a particular sector in mind. This week, we report on the results of the Perth Boat Show while also preparing for Sail Expo this weekend on the East Coast.

On the other side of the world, Cannes has wrapped up as other events prepare to kick off. As we would expect, these shows coincide with a raft of announcements about new products.

What is particularly pleasing to see is that Australians are never in short supply at these international events, either as exhibitors or simply as visitors. No doubt many are there representing their brands internationally, while others are on a mission to explore further opportunities.

With spring weather upon us, many of us have already experienced some wonderful days. It has also been somewhat temperamental, with the warmth poking its head up for a day or two before another cooler change arrives.

With this comes an ideal opportunity to prepare for summer. For those who have not been on the water for a while, now could be the right time to undertake a spring shakedown. If your boat has not been serviced, you are running out of time. Do it now.

Get the boat ready. Get the safety gear ready. Get yourself ready.

A breakdown in October is inconvenient. A breakdown during the Christmas holidays can ruin the day.

We do hope you enjoy this week’s Marine Business News.
