Happy Monday, members! It’s me again, Jarred, joining you for a quick morning chat as we start off the week. I hope you’re all doing mighty fine this morning!
I wanted to share something I saw this weekend that really touched me. You see, I was playing volleyball, and a lady was having a hard time keeping track of what the coach was asking us all to do, being a relative newbie to the sport. It was clear she really was dejected by her overall performance. And so as we were wrapping up, I noticed a figure on the side, crying silently. It was the lady from earlier. The coach, a stout, motherly woman with a kind air about her, immediately approached her and talked to her. At this point, I was still hesitant to approach, partly out of respect for her space, but she was sitting next to my bag, so I went up to her and the coach to see if she was okay. To cut this long story short, she said she felt frustrated at not being able to catch up, to which the coach replied by saying it’s absolutely normal to feel that way, and practice makes perfect.
The whole thing just struck me as an episode of vulnerability and compassion, which are two increasingly rare things one encounters as an adult. I’ll also take this time to remind everyone gently: it isn’t wrong to be vulnerable, and neither is being compassionate. So when you can, let your walls down and be someone else’s strength. You never know the difference you might be making.
Touching weekend experiences aside, let’s move on to today’s riddle:
Who makes it, has no need of it. Who buys it has no use for it. Who uses it can neither see nor feel it. What is it?
How’s that for a riddle, members? I hope you have a great time figuring out the answer! Post your answers here on the forum if you think you have! Expect to find a shout-out in tomorrow’s newsletter if you get it correct. 😉
