![]() Week of August 26, 2024![]() Michael Garcia Working here at Houston Methodist, you’ll often hear ‘keep patient safety at the forefront of everything you do’. Here at HMSL, I am so proud to witness that statement every day. When I round the floors, I see the attention to detail you all display to make sure our patients stay safe. From handling supplies to washing your hands – these simple things make such the difference. Last week during our Tier 3 leadership huddle, I heard story after story about good catches. A good catch is a near-miss event that did not reach the patient because of timely interventions and mindful actions of our employees. It makes me so proud to hear when our staff go above and beyond for the safety of our patients. Please continue to share these good catches with your leaders, or even email me – they are worth celebrating. I also wanted to say thank you to the nearly 200 staff members who stopped by our Safe Environment Fair last Friday. From MRI safety to patient transfer, to workplace violence – it was great to see so many passionate people come together and share safety reminders. Safety is so crucial in patient care and I know everybody here at HMSL takes it seriously. Thank you to those who helped plan and execute such a great event. I look forward to the next one. Let us all continue to uphold the values of safety and teamwork in everything we do. Thank you once again for your unwavering dedication.
