Issue 875 Thursday, 16 October 2025
Western Australia’s cruise season has officially set sail, with the arrival of Crown Princess into Fremantle Harbour earlier this week marking a spectacular start. The luxury cruise ship is the largest vessel of our 2025–26 cruise season, and is making its way along WA's coast, with stops in iconic WA destinations including the Kimberley Coast, Broome/Rubibi, and Exmouth before arriving in Fremantle/Walyalup on Monday. After a celebration to mark the ship’s arrival, the vessel has now headed south to Busselton/Undalup and Albany/Kinjarling, before continuing to Sydney. Across the state, more than 140 cruise ship visits are scheduled across Albany, Broome, Busselton, Dampier, Esperance/Kepa Kurl, Exmouth, Fremantle and Geraldton/Jambinu this season. Eight
cruise ships are making their maiden visits to WA waters this season, bringing thousands of new visitors to the state’s regional destinations, supporting and growing WA’s regional tourism destinations. Also pumping benefits into local tourism businesses was the much-anticipated WWE weekend takeover in Perth/Boorloo from Friday, 10 October to Monday, 13 October. The city’s streets were packed with thousands of WWE fans, with interactive activations and events scattered across Perth to enhance their experience ahead of the trio of shows. Once again, WWE proved to be a sellout success, with more than 40,000 tickets sold across three adrenaline-packed days. We know major events like this don’t just bring fans and atmosphere—they deliver real economic
impact, especially for our hotels. In fact, new data from STR shows WA led the nation in hotel occupancy for 2024–25, hitting an impressive 77.5 per cent, well above the national average of 72 per cent. We look forward to seeing the full impact of last weekend’s premium trio of WWE events as WA continues to grow its reputation as the fastest growing events destination in the South East Asia region. Warm regards, Managing Director Anneke Brown and the Executive Management Team.
Crown Princess arrives in Fremantle

Carrying more than 3,000 passengers and 1,200 crew, the Princess Cruises ship is the largest vessel of the 2025–26 cruise season. It’s also the first large ship of a total of 26 cruise visits Fremantle will welcome this season, including 16 turnaround calls and 12 overnight stays. Last month, Princess Cruises also announced it will home port its Sapphire Princess cruise ship in Fremantle for the 2027–28 season, which is expected to generate $142 million in economic impact.
