Message from President Peggy Shannon, PhD Dear friends, As you
will remember, Spring is full of abundance at NSCAD where everything we have been working on comes to fruition – a truly inspiring time. You may have noticed NSCAD ads and posters around town promoting numerous upcoming events. We have packaged all our events under one umbrella. As we enter a period of non-stop events and shows, the newly named Mayhem year-end festival covers everything we present in a short period of time. Our Film Festival kicks off April 30 – May 2 and features student and alumni films, including a special appearance from Chris Hegedus (BFA 1973) who will take part in an alumni panel discussion. We have a Fashion show on May 2. I am really looking forward to seeing our students’ creations come to life on the runway and to welcome our guest designer Marie Webb to the Port Campus. And of course, we have the Student Art Award Gala on May 9, a fantastic night to meet with other alumni and see what our stellar emerging artists are up to. You may buy individual tickets or a festival pass to attend all these shows. I look forward to seeing you at these events and celebrating our amazing students and
their end-of-year work. You can find all our events on the Mayhem Festival page. Peggy
Message from Alumni Association President Ashley Delaney
Spring is an exciting time for new beginnings. In this next month, many future alumni will be wrapping up their time as students, about to embark on new adventures. A pivotal time you likely remember well! I was especially reminded of those days at last month's Fountain Campus tour. Thank you to those who were able to join locally and follow along on Instagram. Personally, it was such a great opportunity to be back and revisit those memories. We hope to do it again in the Fall. It’s been a productive few months for the Alumni Association. We started our year documenting a strong plan that helped reset our vision and prioritize our actions. As volunteers across the globe, we want to ensure we focus our efforts where they have the most impact. One necessary step has been reviewing and recommending By-Law amendments, which consider the shift of roles and our remote process. We will soon have that ready for you to review.
Our planning has been collaborative with the University team. Thanks to those who joined Dr. Shannon for the Alumni Town Hall and for providing strong feedback, insight, and perspective as input into NSCAD’s Strategic Plan. We hope you can join us for Dr. Shannon’s Strategic Plan presentation to alumni on May 16. Finally, an ask of you. I have the honour of speaking at the 2024 Graduation Ceremony on behalf of alumni. If you have words of wisdom to share with these new grads, I would love to share on your
behalf. Send me an email or fill out this anonymous form.
Cheers to new beginnings,
Ashley Read more on our website and to stay connected with the latest news.
