RSA CommuniquéPlus

July 2023

Tēnā Koutou Katoa – G’day and hello to you all,

July 2023 has been a busy month for the RSA! We have worked with the team at the Ashurst Law firm to provide updates to our RSA Constitution to enable us to move towards our goal of being the peak body for kidney health professionals. We held a Town Hall meeting to discuss these amendments, and received valuable feedback on the changes from members who attended that virtual meeting. Thank you to all who joined us that day.

The AGM is only a couple of weeks away, and I would really like to encourage you all to register and mark this event in your diary. Held virtually this year, we will be joined by A/Prof Pete Sinclair to speak to us about AI-Powered Healthcare and what the future has in store for us. I look forward to seeing a great representation of members online.

In RSA office news, we have redesigned the staffing structure and recruited two new staff: Josephine O'Connor has joined the team in a part-time Office Administrator role. Josie is from Sydney and will be on the other end of the 1300 number and membership email inbox. We are also delighted to say that Jill Craw will soon rejoin the team in the new role of Manager - Events and Partnerships. Many of you will remember Jill from Darwin and she is looking forward to seeing members and getting back into the world of kidney health again.

The RSA is excited for all the incredible opportunities available to RSA members that are coming up. New special interest groups are being launch, an RSA-led Workforce Taskforce has been launched and the events calendar has new events added each week.

That’s the wrap for now - look forward to seeing many of you online on August 17th!

Kind regards,

Jon Hosking

Clinical Practice Pattern survey - Hepatitis B vaccination in CKD and dialysis patients

An RSA member is currently investigating the efficacy of hepatitis B vaccination in stage 4 & 5 CKD and HD patients. The aim is to explore and understand the professional practice patterns; timing of commencing the vaccination and to identify barriers, if any, to the implementation of the hepatitis B vaccination management.

Your participation and the outcome of the survey, as well as additional comments, will
provide important information on availability of clinical practice guidelines or identify barriers to overcome, as well as adding robustness to the research.
