We were thrilled to see so many excited players last Saturday for the start of the 2025 season. Thank you for your continued support and patience as the season gets underway.

Team updates

Thank you to all the Age Group Coordinators, coaches and team managers who have come forward to volunteer. Community clubs rely on our great volunteers! Most messages each week on game times, training, or other updates will come from Age Group Coordinators, coaches and managers.

You can also download the DRIBL App which shows every U10+ game in Canberra each week. All U10-U18 GUFC teams and players have now been mapped into DRIBL so you can select your team and see the future draws.

We continue to receive requests for new registrations for this season however they are now closed. We are unable to add any more players.

Goals and field set up

Teams are responsible for setting up goals on the field if they are not already there from the previous match. Check the fixtures on the wall of the clubhouse to see if your field needs set-up. Match fixtures are sent to team contacts prior to each Saturday.

If your field requires set-up, head to the containers near the back of the clubhouse to collect your goals. It is important to find out if you need to return goals. Some of the challenges with goals last Saturday were because goals were not returned to the containers.

Here is a quick video on how to set up the portable goals.

Uniforms

Most community jerseys have been handed out. We are working through final requests this week. We do not have many spare jerseys. Please be patient if you require a different size as in most cases it will need to be ordered, and may have a fee.

It is important that all players in community teams are wearing black shorts, black socks and shin pads.

A reminder on the allocation of jerseys:

  • U5-U7's - jerseys will need to be returned at the end of the season
  • U8-U18's - jerseys can be kept by each player

Merchandise and the GUFC shop

We have four options for purchasing merchandise for this season:

  • Pro Sports Group online shop: online orders of GUFC Umbro gear which will be posted directly to you for a delivery fee.

  • GUFC online shop: drink bottles, caps, beanies, scarves, clothing and umbrellas. Orders can be collected from the clubhouse when the shop is open.

  • GUFC clubhouse shop: open on some Saturdays based on volunteer availability. There is limited stock but you can purchase merchandise from last year including jackets, vests and sweaters.
    • On Saturday 10 May it will be open between 9.30am - 11.00am.
  • GUFC second-hand shop: only open if volunteers are available. On Saturday 10 May it will be closed, however there are donation tubs in the clubhouse to drop-in any boots or second-hand GUFC gear. We hope to open it on Saturday 17 May.

Referee update

Like many other clubs we are working hard to recruit new referees and cover as many matches as possible, however there will be times when teams will need to provide a volunteer to help officiate. We have a small number of whistles in the clubhouse if you need to borrow one.

If you or someone you know is 13 years or older, you may want to sign up to become a Referee - get trained, get certified, and get paid!
