Consulte Mais informação CancerSylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Leading in Cervical Cancer Elimination 💜 (USA-473)Two years since its designation, the CC continues to lead the charge against cervical cancer with impactful initiatives. On the recent Global Day of Action, the centre's Game Changer Vehicle provided mobile screening services and health information in Hialeah, South Florida, a community with a high incidence of cervical cancer. Additionally, the CC hosted the “Improving Mammogram Quality Seminar,” benefiting ten Caribbean Member States by educating radiologists and technologists in the latest screening mammography techniques. Throughout 2021, the CC provided technical input to PAHO/WHO, supporting the implementation of its cervical cancer elimination strategy. Dr. Julio Frenk, representing the CC, actively participated in PAHO/WHO advocacy on women's health, while also supporting the launch of WHO's global breast cancer initiative. Championing Childhood Cancer: Inside St. Jude's Global Pediatric Medicine Department (USA-445) 🎗️From Central America to the Caribbean, the CC at St. Jude's Department of Global Pediatric Medicine is spearheading significant advancements in the battle against childhood cancer through its collaborative endeavors. Their regional impact is profound, with initiatives including support for PAHO/WHO's efforts to strengthen the health system response to pediatric cancer in Central America, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. Additionally, they've played pivotal roles in aiding the development of acute leukemia national guidelines for Ecuador and Paraguay, crafting a childhood cancer plan for Colombia, and contributing to the WHO Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer in the Caribbean. Moreover, their efforts extend to developing training materials for the early detection of childhood cancer, further bolstering the healthcare system's response in the Caribbean. Cross Cutting Themes PAHO's Strategic Plan adopts four Cross Cutting Themes (CCTs): Gender, Equity, Human Rights, and Ethnicity.These serve as organizational and programmatic mandates to be addressed throughout the Organization's work to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities in health in the Region of the Americas. CCs have begun addressing and incorporating these CCTs in their respective workplans.
